Enough of your fancy independent music, let’s enjoy a poem. Read aloud by the author, Rohin Guha. It’s a “found art” piece, consisting entirely of gay men’s descriptions of themselves on Grindr, and it bears the awesome title “Island of Doomed Men.” In just a minute and a half, it captures the way Grindr went from something none of us had heard of, to something that pretty much every gay guy was on, to something we had to take a big step back from just to bear witness to. No real conclusions are reached; this poem simply is. And it’s more or less perfect.
