This is a cover from someone who heard the original and said, but this song is sad! And to convey its melancholy the artist stripped out its driving backbeat and let the spotlight fall on that flailing, holding-back-tears vocal melody. As if “All My Friends” should be retold from the vantage point of just one of the emotions contained within it. A useful deconstruction.
