The Day in Music
- Buzzfeed revealed the 12 best key changes in pop music, and they were dead on. (via)
- Beirut got the Blogotheque treatment, playing a bunch of songs. The melody of “A Sunday Smile” is like nuclear-grade melancholy.
- Beyonce married a wind machine, or perhaps sorrow, while covering Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” in a tribute to Michael Jackson. Beyonce’s self-importance is in danger of collapsing on itself and destroying all we hold dear. Ring the alarm!
- Neil Young and Paul McCartney sang “A Day in the Life” as some kind of horrible Pearl Jam song at Glastonbury. If you’ve ever wanted to see Young and McCartney standing way too close to each other while bouncing up and down and thrusting in one another’s general direction, this is your jam.
- Chairlift brought “Bruises,” their cute little baby kitten of a song, to Ferguson. (Is that something people say? Do they say it was “on Ferguson?” Why does that sound so gross?)
